      All one day workshops take place on a sunday, they all cost 75 EURO PER WORKSHOP, They each run from 10AM - 4PM. They include TEAS/COFFEES/SNACKS.  below are the dates and a brief description of each workshop for 2017. please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss any aspect of the workshops or require further information. We do not provide lunch, you are welcome to bring one and eat it in the studio or I can recommend a number of places to go nearby .

If these dates do not suit you, why not get a group together(minimum of 5) and create one of these projects when it suits you!

 

 

FEBRUARY 12TH. BOWLS, BOWLS, BOWLS

Create 3 handbuilt bowls (6 inch diameter) using 3 different techniques, coiling, slab and pinch with a rim.  Bowls will be decorated using a range of texture tools, coloured slips & oxides. Techniques learned are perfect for a whole range of projects that you will have the opportunity to come back and try out.

APRIL 2ND. FUNKY BIRDS

This popular workshop is fun way to learn the ancient art of COILING . These 2-3 foot abstract birds are ideal as a garden sculpture as well as indoors. we will decorate using coloured slips, creating a finished effect of big , bold & beautiful.

JUNE 18TH. WALL PANEL.

Create a 18inchx24 inch wall panel using white stoneware clay, we will layer coloured slips over the surface of the clay slab, and create our image by carving through the slips, a technique known as Sgraffito , further detail can be added by slip trailing. the panel once fired can be tiled straight onto your wall or framed.

AUGUST 20TH. RAKU FIRING & GLAZE MAKING.

Spend a day making a few basic glazes, applying them to prepared pottery and watching your glazes transform as they are raku fired.. through this western variation of raku, your pots are removed from the kiln when they are red hot and placed into a separate chamber with various materials. this is a popular technique as results are fairly instant. and while you are here, throw a pot on the wheel !

OCTOBER 22nd BACK TO BASICS

A busy day packed with all the basic techniques you need to start you on your road of ceramics. you will create 4 projects, using a number of different techniques, coiling, slab, pebble & wheel throwing(plus attaching handles) This is a great workshop guaranteed  to wet your appetite for clay.

DECEMBER 10TH. CAKE PLATE STAND

Just in time for Christmas, build your own cake plate stand using the slab and the coiling technique. you will also be instructed on basic brush strokes to create a beautiful 'watercolour effect' design on the surface.  in addition to your plate , you will need a creamer which you will throw on the wheel.
